Juni um 18:15 Uhr in X-E0-001 hält Niklas-Luhmann-Gastprofessor Arjun Appadurai seine Universitätsvorlesung zum Thema „The Next New Commodity: Mining the Self in the Era of Digital Personhood“. Arjun Appadurai ist Sozial- und Kulturanthropologe und einer der führenden Experten für Globalisierungsforschung. Er ist Professor emeritus der New York University. Zu seinen bekanntesten Veröffentlichungen gehören The Social Life of Things: Commodities in Cultural Perspective (1986), Modernity at Large: Cultural Dimensions of Globalization (1996) und Banking on Words: The Failure of Language in the Age of Derivative Finance (2015). Zuletzt veröffentlichte er Agricultural Reason in the Shadow of Subsistence Capitalism: A Rural Ontology from Western India (2024). Arjun Appadurai leitet ein Doktorandenseminar zum Thema „Circulation and Comparison in Global Socio-Cultural Flows“.
